Bar Us

Sudarat "Taln" Rojanavanich and Veerach "Aum" Sawaengsupt were interior designers who taught themselves cocktails on night shifts at their own backpacker hostel; Bar Us, the room they opened on Sukhumvit 26 in 2023, was named The Best Bar in Thailand at Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025, No. 4 in Asia and No. 15 in the world.

Why go

The menu is built like a kitchen's: starters, mains, afters, and an all-night section of reworked classics, with the mains described by the World's 50 Best as "bolder, food-inspired cocktails that are savoury, layered." Ingredients come from local farms, guava leaf and green chili and makrut lime among them, and the list rotates every few months on techniques running from distillation and fermentation to fat-brining. The founders' outsider path shows in the room as much as the glass, "an almost all-black interior, theatrical spotlights" and staff in white lab coats (Asia's 50 Best); Rojanavanich puts it plainly: "Bar Us wouldn't have existed in Bangkok 10 years ago. Bars were more classic, hotel-style."

• Order: commit to the sequence rather than a single drink: one starter, one savory main, one after, the progression the World's 50 Best sums up as "A tasting menu in your glass, rooted in progressive flavours." The all-night section covers anyone in the group who wants a straight classic.
• Avoid: counting on a mid-evening reservation. The venue's own booking page is explicit: "We only have 6pm and 8pm time slot available for booking," walk-ins are taken at all times after that, and held seats release after 10 minutes.

must-visit — The Best Bar in Thailand 2025, No. 4 in Asia and No. 15 in the world within two years of opening, for a format you cannot get elsewhere in Bangkok: a coursed, savory-leaning tasting menu in glasses, built by two designers who came from outside the industry and rethought the room from scratch. The award, the craft, and the format carry the rung; the 6/8pm booking rule makes it easy to plan around.
