Fallachan
Craig Grozier ran Fallachan as a private and wild dining outfit for 12 years, cooking foraged Scotland for closed rooms, before opening a 12-seat communal chef's table in a railway arch at Eastvale Place in March 2024, three dinner services a week.
Why go
Grozier started at Edinburgh's Cafe St Honoré and cooked through Spain, Italy and Australia before founding Fallachan Dining in 2012 around direct relationships with fishermen, butchers, growers and his own foraging (Restaurant magazine). The Kitchen is that operation made public: most of the arch is working kitchen, and the twelve diners eat at a single table of recycled scaffold boards with the pass in touching distance (The Scotsman). Michelin recommends it in the 2026 guide and Condé Nast Traveller put it on its best new UK restaurants list (DRAM).
Order this / avoid
- Order: there is no ordering; the seasonal tasting decides. Benchmarks from Erskine's visit: Firth of Forth chipirones, girolles with walnut leaf and sourdough tempura, Balcaskie Estate mutton carpaccio on a corn taco, and the Octomore sourdough made with draff from Bruichladdich's whisky mash, a standing collaboration with the Islay distillery ref.
- Avoid: booking for anyone with hard dietary limits; the kitchen takes pescatarian, vegetarian, gluten-free and nut-free with notice and nothing else, dislikes included.
What locals & experts say
- The Scotsman (Rosalind Erskine, 2024): "Fallachan nails this while offering truly exciting dishes that tell the story of their Scottish locations in each bite," with 9s and a 10 across her scorecard. ref
- The Times (Chitra Ramaswamy): "a sensory dining experience," per the fragment the venue reproduces. ref
- Condé Nast Traveller: among the best new UK restaurants, one of two Glasgow rooms listed. ref
- Michelin Guide UK (2026): recommended listing as Fallachan Kitchen. ref
Good to know
- Timing: dinner Thursday to Saturday, one 7pm sitting, £125; three-course lunch £50 Friday and Saturday 12.30pm, Sunday 1pm and 4pm.
- Booking: essential via SevenRooms; parties of 7 or more can take the room privately any day by email.
- Where: Arch 15, 8 Eastvale Place, beside SWG3 between Finnieston and Partick; the address beats the Maps pin, which has only area precision for this arch.
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: "Craig Grozier's private-dining kitchen save"
Verdict (Chef Jeff ladder)
must-visit — Twelve seats, three dinner services a week, and a chef who spent 12 years cooking Scotland's wild larder for private clients before letting the public in. The format cannot be had elsewhere in the city: hyper-seasonal tasting cooked at arm's length, foraged and estate-sourced, with touches like sourdough made from Bruichladdich whisky draff. Michelin recommendation, a Condé Nast best-new-UK listing and straight 9s and 10s from the Scotsman back the craft; the scarcity is real but the cooking is the reason to plan around it.
